Christantus Uche Sparks Dominant Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.
Even though entering their maiden European campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning very quickly. Without star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding result that virtually guarantees them a place in the Conference League playoffs.
A further victory in their upcoming match against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight passage to the knockout stages, especially after a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Grasp the Opportunity
This match offered a platform for several Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, finding the net for the second game in succession.
A Shelbourne team that had concluded their league season proved outmatched even for a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.

Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for two robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, but saw his shot blocked.
Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for improvement in his game.
A solitary worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
